What is hypnobirthing?

How can it help me?

This hypnobirthing program is a modern and independent childbirth education program, which will help you summon your natural instincts and prepare you with the knowledge, tools and supports for your birth. We utilize deep relaxation, visualisations, massage, breathing, self-hypnosis and evidence based information about birth so you can make the right decisions for you and your baby.

It is fair to say that in today’s day and age there is a strong undertow of fear and pain that is correlated with birth. When fear is present during labour the body reacts by holding on to tension. This tension/fear restricts the body to open and release hormones in the way it has been designed to do; more often than not resulting in a longer, more challenging labour with interventions. In many cases this can leave the birthing mother feeling like she was out of control and like she was a passenger in her own birth.

When a woman can trust, surrender and let go during birth; her baby, body and mind work in harmony. Nature is free to unfold in the way a woman’s body is designed to, calmly and confidently.

Hypnobirthing is logical, effective and simple. You will gain tools and techniques to help you to restore trust, and regain confidence in birth. When a woman is giving birth and she feels relaxed, safe, in-control and is undisturbed during labour she will return home to the innate wisdom within, knowing that her body was made to do this.

The Positive Birth Program is applicable to all births (hospital or home, with or without intervention). You the birthing mother and partner will feel empowered and positive with your choices on the day. You deserve the birth of your baby to be the most positive and empowering day of your life whatever turn your birth may take.

Hear what parent’s are saying….

Before being pregnant, I had only heard birth stories about challenges, trauma-or little was shared with me. That’s probably due to my lack of openness to listen, I wasn’t exactly ready to. I had a few friends who had done this ‘hypnobirthing’ though, and they were the ones who were willing to open up and share their experiences publicly. I stored that thought into the back of my mind and as soon as I became pregnant, I had no reservations about looking into what all this ‘hypnobirthing’ was about. Luckily we have Andi here in Blenheim, because I know my learning style-I’m much more engaged when I can engage in conversation, ask questions and pick up on energy of others.

Since being pregnant, I have listened to a few birth stories, read a couple, and listened to an audio book. The information hadn’t quite sunk in for me yet. I felt neutral about birth-you know, ‘it is what it is, a means to an outcome kinda thing.’ After doing Andi’s course my whole outlook has changed. I’m not at all fearful, I’m way more actively engaged in my role as the birthing mother and I’m actually really excited about bringing our wee girl into this world, no matter what turn it takes. I recognise having a ‘plan’ isn’t what Hypnobirthing is about, yet it’s about being informed, having a tool box to draw from and having the support of my birthing partner (Marty), right along my side as we prepare for one of the biggest team ‘workouts’ of our lives (we have done plenty of partner competition workouts together and we see this one as the best one yet).

Andi is so passionate about child birth, and empowering women, it made the experience all the more valuable.
This won’t be the last you hear from me! I look forward to sharing our birth story with you, no matter what turn of events it takes. Thank you Andi for providing us with this opportunity in little old Blenheim! We are very lucky.

Before Andi's hypnobirthing course I was feeling anxious and scared at the thought of labour and birth. Andi’s course has changed my whole perception of the journey, and I am now feeling confident, capable, calm and truly look forward to the day I give birth.

Andi is incredibly passionate and supportive with a positive, kind and calming energy. Andi taught us so many different tools that we can use throughout the process and has reframed my thinking with such a positive light (even if birth takes a different path to what we are hoping for). My partner’s biggest fear going into labour and birth was not knowing how he could support me and be a part of it all, however since Andi’s course he has a big list of prompts and ideas which has given him the confidence to be an active support in my labour and birth – bring it on!

What a fantastic and valuable experience. I couldn't recommend this hypnobirthing course with Andi enough - for any parents looking to plan for the best birth possible as well as know and understand your rights so you can make informed decisions about your body and your baby. This course is highly beneficial for expectant mums AND their birth partners. My male partner came away bursting with excitement and praise for Andi and how much he gained from doing the course. His words "the cake and brownie were worth the course investment alone, the course itself was priceless". Thank you Andi for a fantastic experience and your genuine care and support for parents going through this journey <3 I can't wait to share our birth story with you!

Thank you Andi for the course last weekend! For me as a medical doctor there were a few things to unlearn :) and overall I felt very empowered and optimistic about giving birth by the end of the 2nd day. For my husband it was all new and he wasn't really keen on going but once he saw all the beautiful birth videos and learnt about self-hypnosis etc he truly changed his opinion and mindset. We are now very excited and positive about the birth of our baby! To be honest I even have a feeling I can't wait for this day hahaha :)
